Fine-detail resin craftsmanship

Forged in light. Refined in resin.

Detailed prints, careful finishing and a direct conversation.

The Forge + Filament Workshop is a point of contact for miniature commissions, file checks and unusual hobby-printing questions. Every potential commission is reviewed individually, and nothing begins until the practical details are agreed.

Crisp detail

0.03 mm and 0.05 mm layer-height options for detailed hobby pieces.

Strong & reliable

ABS-like resin combines fine features with better everyday handling durability.

Hand finished

Supports are removed, surfaces checked and every print passes through the wash process.

Direct conversation

Clear answers, practical expectations and no automated storefront process.

The workshop

Hobby work handled like a craft, not a checkout.

The site is primarily a point of contact for regulars, hobbyists and people with unusual projects. Submitting a query starts a conversation; it does not automatically create an order or confirm that the work has been accepted.

01

Files checked first

Scale, supports, orientation and likely failure points are reviewed before a commission is discussed.

02

Small batches

Suitable for miniatures, display pieces, conversion parts, bases and other focused hobby projects.

03

Clear expectations

Material, finish, timescale and price are agreed directly before printing begins.

Detail + resilience

ABS-like resin

A strong general-purpose resin for miniatures and detailed hobby parts, combining crisp features with better handling durability than brittle standard display resins.

Best suited to
Miniatures, display pieces, bases, conversion parts and detailed components.
Key advantages
Fine surface detail, defined edges and improved resistance to everyday handling.
Layer options
0.03 mm for finer detail or 0.05 mm for efficient high-quality production.
Post-processing
Every resin print receives a dedicated three-stage wash before drying and final UV curing.

Patterns + casting

Wax resin

A specialist resin intended for patterns that will be used in mould-making and casting workflows rather than retained as the final printed object.

Best suited to
Casting masters, mould patterns, jewellery-scale forms and components requiring burnout behaviour.
Key advantages
Captures fine geometry while supporting workflows where the printed pattern is removed during casting.
Status
Planned capability. Queries and expressions of interest are welcome, but commissions are not yet accepted.

Scale + practicality

Filament printing

A practical process for larger objects where scale, strength and material efficiency matter more than extremely fine miniature detail.

Best suited to
Terrain, organisers, storage components, prototypes and larger functional pieces.
Key advantages
Cost-effective larger prints, robust parts and a wider range of practical material choices.
Status
Planned capability. Filament commissions are not currently accepted.

Workshop finishing standard

Three-stage resin wash process

Instead of relying on a single cleaning bath, completed resin prints pass through three separate wash stages to remove uncured residue from surfaces, recesses and fine detail before final UV curing.

  1. 01

    Methylated spirits

Initial wash to remove the bulk of uncured surface resin.

  2. 02

    Isopropyl alcohol

Second wash using clean IPA for more thorough residue removal.

  3. 03

    Water rinse

Final water rinse before drying and UV curing.

  4. 04

    Dry & cure

Parts are dried and cured under UV light for a clean, durable finish.

Optional support

Help with site and workshop costs

Voluntary contributions are separate from commission payments and provide no goods, services, priority or other entitlement.

How it works

From query to agreed commission.

The workflow remains deliberately simple and personal. The form provides enough information to assess the project without pretending every file can be priced automatically.

  1. 01

    Send the query

Describe the project, quantity, scale, intended use and any relevant deadline.

  2. 02

    Attach or link files

Add STL or project files in your email app, or include a suitable download link.

  3. 03

    Review and discussion

The files are assessed for suitability, supports, orientation and likely material use.

  4. 04

    Agree the work

Printing begins only after the scope, price, finish and practical details are agreed.

Commissions & queries

Tell me what you are trying to make.

Use the form for a possible resin commission, a file-feasibility question, or to register interest in the planned wax-resin and filament capabilities.

This is an enquiry form, not a checkout.

Preparing an email does not confirm that a commission has been accepted and does not commit either side to proceed.

Large files are fine.

Paste a Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, MyMiniFactory or other suitable download link into the project details.

The site does not upload this form or your files. It prepares an email addressed to help@forgefilamentworkshop.uk. Your details are used only to respond to the enquiry and manage any commission you agree. See the privacy notice.
