Detailed castable resin patterns for investment casting, produced directly from a supplied 3D model.
Printed using a specialist castable resin formulated and marketed by its manufacturer for clean burnout, these high-detail patterns can be invested and burned out as part of a suitable lost-resin casting workflow.
Metal casting is not included. The workshop supplies the printed burnout master pattern for casting by the customer or their chosen foundry.
What the pattern is
A lost-resin master pattern is a physical 3D-printed pattern intended to be invested and removed during an appropriate casting process. It performs a similar role to a traditional wax pattern, but it is a specialist castable photopolymer resin rather than wax.

Potential uses include jewellery patterns, medallions, badges, emblems, small sculptures, ornaments, gaming and display pieces intended for metal casting, artistic casting projects and prototype components.

File-to-pattern process
Useful enquiry information includes STL, OBJ or another agreed printable format, intended finished dimensions, quantity, deadline, intended metal and casting method where known, and any foundry-specific requirements.
The customer or foundry should identify requirements relating to sprue attachment points, shrinkage compensation, minimum wall thickness, hollowing, drainage, orientation, surface finish, burnout schedule, investment compatibility and casting tolerances.
Revised files may require a revised quotation. Forge + Filament Workshop is not automatically responsible for engineering the complete casting tree or compensating for metal shrinkage unless separately agreed in writing.
Pricing and minimum order
Lost-resin print orders start from £15, plus a £2.50 administration fee. Final pricing depends on the size, complexity, preparation requirements, quantity and total material required for the pattern.
The £15 minimum applies to the overall print-production order and is not necessarily charged separately for every individual pattern. Several small patterns may be grouped into one production order where appropriate.
Final quotations may reflect model size, resin consumption, supports and orientation, complexity, fragility, handling and cleanup, reasonable failure allowance, file preparation or repair, quantity, packaging and fulfilment requirements.
Material and burnout information
The resin used is formulated and marketed by its manufacturer for clean burnout in investment-casting applications. Successful casting depends on the complete casting workflow, including pattern preparation, investment material, burnout schedule, kiln performance, flask preparation, metal selection and pouring conditions.
Forge + Filament Workshop cannot guarantee the outcome of casting work completed by a customer or third-party foundry.

The foundry must confirm the programme against its investment material, flask size, kiln performance, intended metal and established casting process. Burnout requirements may differ from conventional casting wax. Forge + Filament Workshop cannot guarantee a casting completed by the customer or a third-party foundry.
